Evpatoriya resort town has a rich ethnic history. The ancient city was founded by the Greeks in IV BC, and in the XV century, was already a major trading center. For a long time in the city lived the Turks and Crimean Tatars, and made a corresponding impact on the culture and architecture of the city.

The city was known by different names: Kerkentida, Gizlev, but the final, preserved to our days, the city was given after the accession of the Crimea to the Russian Empire.
